Born in 1975, Luis Mariano Renedo is a talented guitarist from Granada. At a very early age, Renedo devoted his life to flamenco, receiving his formational training from various guitar masters from Granada. Eventually, he began performing in the city’s most notable and emblematic flamenco establishments, including La Reina Mora and Venta El Gallo. In this environment where he was under the influence of many reputable artists from Granada, Renedo developed as a flamenco guitarist as he learned the rhythmic, aesthetic, and qualities of flamenco. Renedo’s exceptional talent allowed him to distinguish himself from his peers. Renedo became especially skilled at accompanying dance, a skill for which he continues to excel in the world of flamenco.
Renedo is also recognized as a solo guitarist and accompanist of cante. Renedo’s style of playing is distinctly granadino, but is noted as clean, rhythmically precise, and intelligent. He has won two national prizes for guitar playing, the first at the Concurso Nacional de Guitarra de Jumilla, the “Uva de Oro” for best solo guitarist in 2006 as well as a special mention for his playing of Tarantas. Accompanying cante, Renedo received special mention at the Festival Del Cante De Las Minas in La Unión, Murcia. Here, he accompanied Juan Pinilla and helped him to earn the “Lámpara Minera,” which is flamenco’s most prestigious award for cante.
